This guide is good for both the trial version and the full version; however, if you install the trial version first and then decide to purchase and install the full version after then please refer to Step 18. Upgrade Notes
There are 10 Steps to implementing this program:

Step 1
Read the Introduction and these Steps.

Step 2
Obtain a Premier or Business Account from Paypal

Step 3
Turn on Auto Return and PDT
  1. Log In to Paypal
  2. Click on Profile
  3. Click on Website Payment Preferences
  4. Set Auto Return to ON.
  5. Enter the Return URL. On a secure server the url is: https://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/aplusdownload/scripts/aplusdownload.cgi. On a non-secure server: http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/aplusdownload/scripts/aplusdownload.cgi. Note that the secure server is the preferable choice.
  6. Scroll down to Payment Data Transfer (PDT)
  7. Set Payment Data Transfer to ON
  8. Scroll to the Bottom and Save.
  9. Note: You will have to return here to copy and paste the Identity Token in the PayPal configuration file of the application.


Step 4
Check the Software Requirements

Step 5
Install & configure the CGI scripts, the mySQL data table and the Configuration Parameters

Step 6
Add the file data to the mySQL database using the cart manager.

Step 7
Create the PayPal Buttons from the Cart Manager

Step 8
Click on the PayPal Button from Cart Manager to test the Purchase of your First File
For a live test set the price to a small amount like a penny and purchase with a credit card if one has only 1 PayPal Account. One can also use PayPal's sandbox, PayPal's testing environment.

Step 9
Add the PayPal Buttons to your Web Pages, Blog etc.

Step 10
WHEN EVERYTHING IS DONE AND THE PROGRAM IS WORKING IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE FOLLOWING DELETIONS ARE CARRIED OUT:
  1. DELETE the folder: install eg. /cgi-bin/aplusdownload/install
  2. DELETE admin_menu.htm but keep a backup on your desktop computer of admin_menu_install.htm for future need.
  3. RENAME admin_menu_original.htm. to admin_menu.htm. Note that admin_menu_original.htm does not have the links to the configuration parameter files.
  4. DELETE testmods.cgi and test.cgi .
